context

The R5 IS BACK in 2024 – and with it a full transformation of the codes and conventions of the automobile. When, where and with whom to celebrate its major comeback in our hearts and on our roads?

big idea

The WHAT THE FIVE SHOW: a r5volutionary show on an international scale held on the forecourt of the Centre Pompidou, involving over 250 artists and offering a blend of dance and music against a colourful background to reflect the iconic Renault 5!

A show in five acts, paying homage to each of the Renault 5’s five key features: Popular, Iconic, Electric, Visionary and Revolutionary.

A show co-created by the best of French talent: :
• Choreographer Sadeck Berrabah working with 250 dancers from across the whole of France, each moving in perfect time and wearing bright colours.
• 60 musicians from the French Republican Guard – arriving with great fanfare!
• And pop artist Cyril Lancelin, creator of the immersive sculptures bearing the colours of the Renault 5, the true icons of the show’s scenography.
A gathering of artists emblematic of pop culture and contemporary art: What a mix!

A show energised by a pop culture soundtrack: with top hits from the 80s & 90s to the present day including the emblematic “Instant Crush” by French duo Daft Punk as the sonic signature of the R5 E-Tech 100% Electric.

A show installed at the foot of an iconic Parisian monument: the Centre Pompidou!
And what better venue to host this exceptional and popular show? A monument that changed the capital city’s architectural profile forever, just as the R5 revolutionised the automotive industry. One that has inspired millions of artists, just as the R5 E-Tech 100% Electric will inspire the French to adopt low-carbon mobility. One that Paris holds in its heart, just as we hold the R5 in our hearts.

For the most closely watched automotive launch of the year, we combined two icons of pop culture in the heart of Paris: the R5 and the Centre Pompidou. The challenge was to bring back memories while underlining the modernity and innovation to be found in the new Renault 5 E-Tech 100% Electric. The teams at PublicisLive Paris, Publicis Conseil and Razorfish rose to this challenge thanks to their proposal and the assembly of various different artistic components, beginning with the venue and the programme.
